Work will get under way at 7pm this evening to resurface a stretch of the A96 near Inverurie.

The £260,000 improvements will address defects in the road on the eastbound approach to Pitcaple.

Temporary traffic lights and a10mph convoy system are expected to be in place from 7pm-6am for five nights.

The traffic management will be removed during the daytime except on Wednesday, January 26, when it will be in place throughout the day.

The work is expected to be completed by 6am on Monday morning.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north east unit representative, said: "The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists.

"We have planned for the majority of works to be carried out overnight to ensure minimum disruption to road users.

"We thank motorists for the patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A96."
