Forres roadworks see A96 access route in Moray closed

The closure of a road linking Forres to the A96 has caused an “absolute nightmare” for drivers, according to social media posts.

Victoria Place has been closed for resurfacing works since this morning, at the junction between Drumduan Road and Forbeshill.

The resurfacing works have led to a two-day closure.

The closure is set to last until Friday, March 14, according to the Moray Council website.

However, works are set to continue until March 17, with waiting restrictions in place after the road reopens.

Taking to Facebook, one local described the traffic situation this morning as an “absolute nightmare”.

It is understood that drivers trying to access the A96 faced delays of up to 25 minutes this morning.

Another motorist, who asked not to be named, said she had was forced to U-turn upon reaching the point of closure.

Moray Council’s suggested diversion for the closure would see drivers reach the A96 by backtracking down Victoria Road and the High Street, onto Bridge Street and Market Street before reaching the trunk road.
