HOUSEHOLDERS in the Banffshire and Buchan Coast constituency area are being urged to get in touch with their local MSP if they are in need of assistance following Storm Arwen.

The storm, which hit last Friday, has left a wake of damage and destruction in its wake, with roads and schools forced to close and tens of thousands left without power. At the time of writing, there were still households and businesses across the north-east left without electricity, with some left with bot power or water.

Ms Adam said: “My office team and I are on hand to help constituents of Banffshire and Buchan Coast.

"If you are in need of assistance, please get in touch with me and my team using the mobile numbers or email provided. Phone lines may be busy but if you leave a voicemail, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

“I will be phoning and checking in with as many vulnerable constituents as possible to see where I can help. I have been in communication with Aberdeenshire Council who will be providing an update for residents after very shortly, I will share those details as soon as they come in.

"I’ve also been in touch with Moray Council and community groups in and around Buckie area, please keep communication going and get in touch with me if there’s any changes to the situation there.

“There are still around 3000 properties without water supply and electricity. I have been in touch with Scottish Water asking why there are no largescale water drop off points in Banffshire and Buchan Coast. I have been advised that constituents can however get in touch with Scottish Water to request a drop off by calling 0800 077 8778.

“I will be working round the clock giving live updates on Facebook and Twitter as I get them to help people in need and where folk can access warm shelter, charging points, washing facilities, food and water.

“For residents in St Combs and Crudie, Scottish Water have advised residents to turn their taps on for a while to see if there is running water again because there have been repairs done with supplies restored to much of the area. The pipes might need some time for the water to make it through the lines and they do not think that the temperatures are cold enough to have frozen the pipes. For residents still without water, please call Scottish Water and let them know."

Ms Adam's team can be contacted by phone on (0131) 3485069 or 07826 548813 or via email at Karen.Adam.MSP@Parliament.scot
