Almost 1000 coronavirus cases confirmed in Moray in the last week

ALMOST one thousand cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray within the last seven days.
A total of 953 new cases takes the number of positive tests in the area since the outbreak started in March 2020 to 9363.
This is the most cases ever confirmed in a seven-day period in Moray, up on the 504 confirmed in last week's update.
Meanwhile, a total of 687 negative tests have been confirmed in the last week.
No death update has been provided this week – with Public Health Scotland's next update on deaths per local authority to come on January 7.
As of December 22, 60 coronavirus-related deaths have been confirmed in Moray.
Of the 60 to have died, 47 tested positive for virus and passed away within 28 days, while 13 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.
Moray neighbourhood update
All of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least nine cases of coronavirus between December 20 and December 26.
Elgin was again the worst-hit town in Moray with a total of 179 cases – up on the 112 recorded previously.
Meanwhile, there were 99 cases in Lossiemouth, 79 in Forres, 55 in Buckie and 28 in Keith and Fife Keith.

- North Speyside: 24
- Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: 19
- Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: 14
- Rural Keith and Strathisla: 11
- South Speyside and the Cabrach: Nine

Moray vaccination update
The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 70,925. This accounts for 84.3 per cent of the eligible population.
The number to have received one dose is 77,478 – or 92.1 per cent of those eligible.
In total, 54,120 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab, accounting for 64.3 per cent of the eligible population now triple jabbed.
