An amber weather warning has been issued for Moray and the north of Scotland today.

Snow and ice is forecast for the area for today and Wednesday and the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning yesterday.

However, an amber warning has been issued this morning for snow across Moray from 3pm today until 11.59pm.

The Met Office says that heavy snow will lead to travel disruption and that public transport across the area is likely to be cancelled.

The warning also added that rural communities could become cut off and that power cuts are likely. There could also be disruption to other services such as mobile phone coverage.
