FRESH on the heels of the success of "Dear Amy" which peaked at number 19 in the UK iTunes chart, Moray singer/songwriter Amy Papiransky releases her latest single, "Summertime Blues" today.

The release comes with support from BRIT and Ivor Novello Award-Winning Singer/Songwriter KT Tunstall and her Management team.

KT says: ”Amy is a brilliant new Scottish female talent, it was a no-brainer for me to see what I could do to help her get closer to her dream of living life as a working musician; the very same dream I once had growing up in Scotland.”

Amy, from Keith, is thrilled to have the backing of one of her musical idols: “There are no words to describe how much having KT’s support means to me. I feel so lucky, it’s honestly like a dream come true.

She’s been a role model to me since the age of 13 - I was inspired to write music after seeing KT live for the first time in 2009 in Aberdeen.

"To have support from any musician you admire is amazing, but when it’s your absolute hero, it’s pretty unbelievable!"

Summertime Blues is about one of Amy’s best friends.

“She is so strong and caring but when her partner is having a bad time he will often call off their relationship, leaving her feeling hurt, confused and insecure. The line 'I should want the world to want me, not only you' is about her realising that even though she loves him deeply, she deserves to be treated with more care and respect.” says Amy.

Amy has again teamed up with friend and regular collaborator - Angus Lyon - who produced and recorded her debut album - Read Me Write.

“I had some studio recording time booked with Angus at Grans House Studio in Lamington.” says Amy.

“I ended up writing “Summertime Blues” the night before heading into the studio. Songwriting is the only aspect of my life where I thrive under pressure!

"We used a lot of samples and keyboard sounds on this track which was really fun, as I had never worked in this way before.”

Since making the final of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year, Amy has continued to

carve her name in the Scottish music scene.

Amy now lives in Glasgow, where she works as a music teacher.

She has been writing and recording her own material for the last eight years.

KT Tunstall added: “A bit of Dolly and a bit of Carole King with the piano, and a real tie in with good country writing over her stunning Scottish accent.”

Classically trained and multi-instrumentalist with folk roots, Amy has toured in Canada,

America, Ireland and Germany and played at the prominent Lotus Temple in New Delhi.

She has also performed live on BBC Radio Scotland’s Hogmanay Show, at BBC Proms in the Park and Roddy Hart’s BBC Quay Sessions.

Amy’s debut album Read Me Write was released in September 2019
