The boss of a local firm has spoken out after power tools belonging to apprentices were stolen from a boat at Macduff harbour.
The theft took place overnight on Saturday.
John Watt, of Macduff Profilers, said: "For the young men trying to start a career during this expectionally difficult time, this is a despicable crime.
Mr Watt said that at about 8.50pm a tall young man wearing waterproofs, a hood and light trainers, came from low shore on a bike with a headlight and single reflectors on each wheel.
He added: "This man forced entry into a new vessel in the corner of the harbour and stole a large quantity of hand tools.
"The person was later joined by an accomplice and, together, they used a wheelie bin to move the stolen items.
"They left the scene around 2.45am on Sunday morning.
"Many of the tools stolen belonged to our apprentices who are just starting out in their working life.
"The items include a Milwaukee drill, Makita drills, multi tools, jig saws, impact drivers and grinders.
"These tools will hit the local market, but they are all marked.
"If you are offered or see them for sale, please do not buy them.
"Instead contact Banff police station or our main office on 01261 832234.
"We thank the community for the help we have already received. But any extra help we receive in catching these culprits will be much appreciated."
PC Gavin Duff is the enquiry officer.
He said: "I would urge anyone who may have saw anything suspicious to come forward.
"If you are offered any power tools or have any information please contact us."
