Apology issued for mistaken identity of Glenisla carer with coronavirus

AN APOLOGY has been issued for the mistaken identity of an employee with coronavirus at Glenisla Care Home.

Parklands Care Homes, which runs Keith-based Glenisla, released a statement on Saturday saying two residents and an ancillary worker “who does not work in a care role” had tested positive covid-19.

It has since been confirmed that the ancillary worker mentioned in the statement is in fact a carer.

Donald Morrison, who works for Solas Media and wrote the statement on behalf of Parklands, apologised for the mistake.

He said: “It was a simple mistake, based on a misunderstanding on my part of the precise nature of the employee’s role.

“Every employee is valued, no more so than at this challenging time.”

The apology comes after the carer, who tested positive at the drive-through test centre in Huntly on May 10, accused Parklands Care Homes, which runs Glenisla, of “misleading the public”.

The statement ‘shocked’ the carer, but the apology has now been accepted.

The employee remains well, and is at home self-isolating ahead of a return to work.
