A North East Charity is asking people to help raise vital funds whilst hitting their 2021 resolutions.

The ARCHIE Foundation’s Raise-olution Appeal is asking the public to put their resolutions into action with a fundraising element to help drive them and the charity to success.

Paula Cormack, fundraising director said 2020 has been a hugely difficult year for everybody and this is a chance to start the year with a positive in terms of achieving a goal.

Like many charities the ARCHIE Foundation saw a reduction in fundraising in 2020 due to cancelled events. The charity has seen a 67 per cent drop in its income, whilst conversely many of the charity’s services have experienced an increase in requests for help.

Play services in hospitals, for example, have required additional toys and supplies as Covid precautions increased and visitor numbers to patients were reduced.

ARCHIE’s Grampian Child Bereavement Network, which supports bereaved children and families, saw an increase in family referrals and training requests for education and healthcare staff.

Fundraising support is vital if the charity is to continue providing services such as emergency grants to families struggling with the economic impact of a sick child or funding staff posts such as the ARCHIE Pain Nurse. These and many more elements of the key services and support the charity offers are currently hanging in the balance.

Added Ms Cormack: “It doesn’t matter what your resolution is, by asking people to sponsor you to achieve it you are much more likely to hit your goal.”

Everyone who signs up will receive a fundraising e-pack which includes cards to write goals down and templates for inviting friends and family for sponsorship.

It also includes lots of ideas for those who might be struggling with what their resolution should be. Whether it’s clocking up the miles, growing inches on your beard, taking hours off social media or any manner of other resolutions, goals or bucket list dreams all of them can be boosted with the added incentive of helping babies, children, families and NHS staff in their times of need.
