It followed reports of a disturbance in a house in Lawson Place, Buckpool after an ambulance had been called.

An area of the street was cordoned off during the incident, which ended peacefully, which neded with the arrest of 21-year-old Jay McIntosh.

He appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court earlier today where he admitted behaving in a threatening manner, telling ambulance staff that he had a knife before shouting, swearing and punching a window on Sunday, January 23.

McIntosh also threatened three police constables with violence and challenged them to fight while repeatedly making racial remarks.

Defence solicitor Stephen Carty said "It began as an innocuous matter which got out of control."

No other details were told to Sheriff Sara Matheson who deferred sentence on McIntosh until February 17 at Elgin Sheriff Court when he has other matters calling.

Inspector Neil Morrison of Elgin Police Station thanked the local community for their patience and understanding as the incident unfolded.

He said: “We were made aware of a man causing a disturbance at a property on Lawson Place in Buckie around 5.40am on Sunday, January 23.

“Officers, including a number of specialist resources, attended and a 21-year-old man was subsequently arrested.

“Nobody was injured and the incident was contained to the single property.
