Armed robbery at Buckie convenience store

POLICE are hunting an armed robber who presented a bladed weapon at a member of staff in a Buckie store before fleeing empty-handed.

The incident happened around 4.45pm on Monday, November 23 at a store on St Paul Street in the town.

An unidentified man entered the shop, demanding money and presenting a bladed weapon at a member of staff.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.

Officers are working to identify the man, who is described as being aged between 25-40-years-old and around 5ft 6in to 5ft 10in tall.

He was wearing a dark hooded top and grey jogging trousers.

After the incident he ran off in the direction of Barfield Road.

Detective Sergeant Robbie Williams, of Elgin CID, said: "Fortunately no one was injured but it was an upsetting incident for the staff member involved.

"We are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area, including careful study of the available CCTV footage.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time or who has any other information which could help our investigation to come forward."

Anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage is asked to review it and pass on anything notable to us.
