An annual award has been renamed in honour of a “great man” who “embodied the ethos” of local business.

Moray Chamber of Commerce’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been named the Peter Wilson Award for Corporate Social Responsibility after the MacKenzie and Cruickshank owner, who died in July aged 70.

Mr Wilson and MacKenzie and Cruickshank won the CSR award at the 2023 Annual Business Awards.

The award is one of four up for grabs at Moray Chamber’s Annual Business Awards. Applications are now open for all categories, with the ceremony to take place at Lossiemouth’s Stotfield Hotel on December 4.

Chamber CEO Sarah Medcraf said: “Peter Wilson was an engaged businessman, not only within Moray Chamber of Commerce, but across Forres and beyond.

“Peter embodied the ethos of keeping money in Moray where he can, employing local people and giving back.

“As Peter, and MacKenzie and Cruickshank, won the CSR award last year, the Moray Chamber of Commerce directors felt it fitting to rename the award this year to attribute the award to him.
