This annual campaign raises awareness of the Gift Aid scheme, which is worth around £1.6 billion to charities each year. This money – given by the government – gives charities and the communities they support a vital boost.

Gift Aid allows charities to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated by eligible taxpayers and at no extra cost to the donor or taxpayer.

Despite the significant benefits of the scheme, many charities still miss out on Gift Aid money, leaving millions of pounds unclaimed each year.

The campaign aims to encourage every eligible charity to make the most of the Gift Aid scheme and reduce the amount of Gift Aid that goes unclaimed every year – a whopping £560 million.

Mr Logan is urging constituents, local donors, and charities to take full advantage of the scheme to ensure that donations stretch even further. He is asking charities in the north-east to get involved in this year’s Gift Aid Awareness Day campaign to show donors and supporters why it is so important.

Mr Logan said: “The Gift Aid scheme has been enormously successful since it was first introduced nearly 35 years ago.

“Charities and community amateur sports clubs in our constituency work incredibly hard to support their communities, helping them to thrive.

“If you’re a taxpayer in the UK and donate to charity, please remember to tick the box – it makes a huge the difference to them.”
