Backers sought for piping champs
A POPULAR Moray piping event is drumming up support from stallholders and sponsors.
Piping At Forres, the European Pipe Band Championships, will be held on Saturday, June 25.
Before then, organisers are inviting applicants for stallholder places to get in touch by March 31.
Stands are available either inside marquees in the food and drink village, and in the craft and retailvillage, or as free-standing stalls inside those areas. All small stallholders will also have a chance to win ‘the best small business trade stand’ award in a competition run by the Moray Federation of Small Businesses.
Piping At Forres is also keen to hear from any businesses interested in sponsoring the event.
There are several levels of sponsorship, and any business wishing to help out should contact sponsorship director Eddie Tomkinson or head to the event website. Anyone wishing stallholder information should visit the website for more information.
Mr Tomkinson said: “We rely on sponsors to help put on this event and are extremely grateful to the businesses who loyally sponsor us and help bring significant economic benefits to the area.”
Forres Events Ltd, which organises Piping At Forres, will also give a stall free of charge to six selected charities that have applied for a space. Volunteers are also being sought for the event, with meetings to be held in the new few weeks.
More than 100 pipe bands from around the world compete in the European Pipe Band Championships, in front of a crowd of thousands, making it the biggest ticketed one-day event in Moray. As well as the best in piping, the event has more than 100 stalls.Tickets go on sale in early April.
