Douglas Ross defeated by SNP in Aberdeenshire North and Moray East
DOUGLAS Ross will not return to Westminster after losing to Seamus Logan of the SNP in a sensational result in Aberdeenshire North and Moray East.
Mr Logan secured 13,455 votes, beating Mr Ross - who gained 12,513 - to become the area’s MP.
When the exit poll was announced at 10pm, Mr Ross and the Conservatives were handed a 99 per cent chance of success in the seat - but Seamus Logan - a councillor in Fraserburgh - defied the odds to win out.
It’s the exact opposite of the fate that befell Mr Ross in 2019, when he was given a 1 per cent chance of winning and won.
Mr Ross previously announced that he would step down as Conservative leader, regardless of tonight’s result. He will continue in his role as MSP for the Highlands and Islands.
