Daltullich Bridge at Dunphail to close for repairs following accident
A rural river crossing is scheduled for repairs which will affect motorists for a few weeks.
The picturesque Daltullich Bridge at Dunphail will have to be closed from Tuesday, November 5 for three weeks while Moray Council-contracted engineers mend damage caused by a passing motorist.
A local authority spokesperson confirmed the single span, masonry arch bridge with the single lane carriage way on the C11E/20 road requires work to refill the joints on the brickwork, and rebuilding sections of the parapet.
She said: “The masonry parapets on both sides of the bridge were damaged recently. Major blocks are missing on the upstream side wall, approximately six metres in length. It needs to be rebuilt.
“There is also a minor block missing at the base of upstream side parapet wall - above the east side spandrel - that needs to be fixed.
“Substantial repointing is required on the upstream side parapet wall above the west side spandrel and vegetation needs to be cleared.
“Substantial repointing is also required above the spandrel and wing walls on both sides of the bridge.”
The repair works are being undertaken with Highland Council, as the bridge is under shared ownership.
The road will be closed and a diversion route signposted via C11E, C10E, A96, A940, B9007 to C11E.
HGVs will be required to follow C11E, C10E, A96, A940, A939, C11E.
