There were bagfuls of rubbish to collect for the team from Buckie and Surrounding Areas Beach Clean, who got to work on the area around the former Jones's Shipyard site.

For event organiser John Stuart, it was good to get back into action.

He said: " It is grand to get it back up and running to be honest, and it was needed!

"There is so much potential for Jones's, a few of us want to go back with garden brushes to properly get rid of some of the glass etc.

"We didn't have a lot of volunteers this time around, but after two hours of work we had amassed 15 bags of rubbish. Quite an accomplishment with four of us!

"I've got another litter pick organised for the beach side adjacent to Jones's so that we can have a child friendly one."

The group are not about to rest on their laurels with another session planned for this coming Sunday at 11.30am at Ianstown beach.
