TWO young Moray actors will appear in a Scottish BAFTA-nominated short film on Monday night.

Amelie Roger (12), from Garmouth and Destiny Gourlay (17), from Elgin, star in I was Here on the new BBC Scotland channel on Monday night at 11.05pm.

The 14-minute film was shot entirely in Moray and features Amelie, a Milne’s High pupil, in the lead role of Isla.

Isolated and lonely, Isla discovers a dead body which suddenly gives her the attention she craved.

Amelie said she
was nervous auditioning for the role but delighted to land the part.

“It was filmed about a year ago in the old Tennents pub in Lhanbryde,” she said.

“I have never done anything like this before but I definitely want to keep acting.”

Destiny, who attends Elgin Academy, sent in a private audition tape filmed by her mum before a one-to- one audition at Elgin Community Centre where she landed a role.

Her mum Tracey said: “She won an award for drama in fifth year and really wants to do acting when she leaves school.”
