Mother will have autistic sons in her heart during fundraiser

A woman will have her sons in her heart during a fundraising effort.

Both of Burghead woman Gillian Vivian’s sons are - like her - autistic, and have been supported by MFR Cash for Kids and Children 1st over the years.

That support for Marcus (11) and Jake (9) does not go unnoticed by Gillian, who is hoping to give back and allow them to help others in the same way they have helped her.

The 39-year-old will be in Elgin’s Tesco on November 14, selling lucky squares to raise cash for MFR Cash for Kids as part of their Mission Christmas appeal.

“A few years ago, Jake, who is non-verbal, got a trike,” she said. “Then the most amazing thing happened this summer when we got a safe-space bed.

"It was so-needed for Jake to keep him safe, because we can't communicate with him.

"I like to support our local community and I like giving back. If people help me, I like to help back."

Gillian is an independent Usborne partner. She is aiming to raise £1000 in donations for books and jigsaws for youngsters.

If she does this, then Usborne will provide an additional £600 worth of free books on top of this.
