READING is a pleasure all ages can enjoy but particularly children.

And one local mum is hoping to raise more than £1000 to provide books for young people to enjoy.

Gillian Vivian, from Burghead, is mum to two autistic boys who love reading and is also an Independent Usborne Partner.

She will be at Tesco Elgin on Friday, January 28 from 10.30am until 2.30pm fundraising for Children 1st to provide books for families supported by the charity.

Gillian said: "There will be prizes and my own book stall where all of my commission will be going to the fundraiser."

If Gillian reaches her £1000 target, Usborne will donate an extra £600 worth of books.

Mandy Morrison, manager of Children 1st, said: "This money will allow us to completely transform our charity reading resources and to allow all children to have access to a wide variety of high-quality fiction and non-fiction books to choose from and enjoy."
