Those who had a freezing dook on Boxing Day have now seen their fundraising efforts donated to charity.

The Burghead Boxing Day Swim raised a total of £21,500 from the swim, which has been donated to three local charities.

The largest amount was handed Abbie's Sparkle Foundation with £15,500, and £3000 each went to Burghead Parent and Toddlers and Burghead Coastal Rowing Club.

Jamie Campbell, the president of the Boxing Day Swim, expressed his thanks to everyone who helped out.

He added: "We’d like to thank all of the swimmers who raised a fantastic amount of money, to the public for continuing for the support, to the local businesses who supported us with great raffle prizes and to the volunteers from the Burghead Sub Aqua Club and Burghead Coastguard who go above and beyond and give their time so freely to make sure everything runs safely and smoothly.

"We are over the moon with the total and we believe it’s the second highest total received, we know the money will be of great support to the three beneficiaries.

"We are grateful to the last minute donation of £2000 which took the overall total to £21,500. Planning has already started for 2019."
