Forres ambulance station, based at Leanchoil Hospital, relocates staff due to burst pipe

The ambulance base operating at the former Leanchoil Hospital in Forres has been forced to shut due to a burst pipe.

NHS Grampian, which owns and runs the site and the ambulance station, said the pipe - found on January 15 - “likely” burst as a result of the recent cold snap in Moray.

The ambulance service has temporarily relocated the two members of staff and the ambulance located at the base to Forres Fire Station. They said the move would have “no impact” on the service.

An NHS Grampian spokesperson said: "We were notified of a burst pipe at the site of the former Leanchoil Hospital on January 15.

“It is likely the pipe burst as a result of the recent very cold temperatures. The supply to the site has been isolated while we consider the next steps.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed the base has been affected.

A spokesperson said: “NHS Grampian informed us of the need to switch off water at Leanchoil, where our ambulance station is based, due to an ongoing issue.

“We have temporarily relocated our staff members to Forres Fire Station as a result of this.

“There is no impact on service delivery in the community and the crew are operating as normal.”
