Calendar Competition

‘SCOT’ READERS are certainly keen.... especially the ones with an eye for a photograph.

The first announcement that we were starting to look for photos for the ‘Scot’s’ 2012 calendar brought a rush of entries from one camera enthusiast, and we hope many others will follow suit.

The 2011 calendar was a big success and has found its way all round the world, being sent to relatives and friends as a reminder of how marvellous Moray looks.

And again this year there is a £100 prize for the picture chosen to front the calendar and go on the cover.

So the challenge is being issued to amateurs and professionals to send in colour prints, measuring 10 inches by 8 inches, or digital versions in high resolution jpeg format, showing Moray at its colourful best.

Use your imagination to come up with a picture that would brighten up a room in a house or office, showing Moray in wonderful colour, whether in the hills or at the coast, along our rivers, in towns or villages or rural settings, showing famous landmarks, gardens, parks etc.

Editor Mike Collins said: “The criteria are simple ....... Would your photo make anyone looking at it feel good about Moray? Would your photo be fit to grace a room for a month? Would you, in fact, enjoy looking at it for that length of time?”

Prints should be sent to Jan Scott, ‘The Northern Scot’, 74-76 South Street, Elgin, IV30 1JG, marked ‘Calendar 2012’, or e-mailed to j.scott@northern-scot.co.uk, with ‘Calendar 2012’ in the subject line. All entries must be accompanied by a name, address and telephone number, and it would be helpful if the photographs were titled.

Get your entries in as quickly as possible.
