EMERGENCY services were called to Elgin's St Giles' Centre this morning after a car fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland were in attendance at the shopping centre's car park just after 9am and the blaze is now extinguished.

A spokesman said: “At 9am on Tuesday, May 2 the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire involving two vehicles at a multi-storey car park in Elgin.

"One appliance attended and firefighters extinguished the fire using a high-power hose - there were no casualties.”

Police and fire crews remain in attendance and the centre's car park has been closed while a clear up takes place. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
