Lossiemouth’s new cash hub has opened its doors
A brand-new hub offering personal and business banking facilities has opened in Lossiemouth.
The cash hub - based in the town hall - opened for the first time on Wednesday, May 7. It will offer customers the chance to pay-in and withdraw cash, as well as getting change.
The hub’s opening comes on the back of large banking chains leaving Lossiemouth in their droves.
Councillor James Allan (Heldon and Laich, Conservative) has been instrumental in establishing the facility and was the first customer.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted that this cash hub is now open.
“I have been fighting for a while for this to become a reality after the big bank branches shamefully abandoned the town and it was great to be the first customer at the new facility.
“I am confident that this hub will be well used by local residents and businesses who have been desperate to still be able to access cash in their own community, particularly when mobile and internet connectivity remains extremely poor in many parts of Moray.
“I would encourage everyone to support the new hub, and I look forward to continuing to show my support for the facility as it gets up and running.”
The facility will be open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
Highlands and Islands MSP Douglas Ross added: “It is great to see the cash hub in Lossiemouth officially open its doors.
“Communities across Moray have been disgracefully neglected by the big banks in recent years but hubs like this can help support customers, particularly the elderly and vulnerable get access to cash.
“I look forward to seeing how this facility develops and continue to encourage more hubs like this to open across Moray.”
