COVESEA Lighthouse tower will be open for a limited number to view the Red Arrows fly over RAF Lossiemouth later this month.

RAF Lossiemouth's Family and Friends Day will be held on Wednesday, July 21, which will include flying displays from the Red Arrows, a Lossiemouth Typhoon and others.

Covesea Lighthouse Community Company Ltd will open up the lighthouse tower to photographers and videographers for the full period of the flying, planned from 1-2.30pm.

However, to allow for social distancing numbers will be severely restricted to a maximum of five individuals. This will cost £20 per person for the period between 12.45-2.45pm. Up to two further places may be available to members of ticket-holders' family bubbles.

Both the lighthouse and the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force Heritage Centre are now fully open, with restricted numbers. Tours of the tower are only available by pre-booking but casual visits, without reservation, are welcome at the centre.

Meanwhile, new volunteers are being sought for both the lighthouse and the heritage centre. No experience is necessary, as full training will be given. An active interest in interacting with visitors is essential for both opportunities and Navy or Air Force service is desirable at the heritage centre.

The charity is also looking for new board members to take the project forward in the long-term.

Anyone interested should email info@covesealighthouse.co.uk, phone 01343 810664 or visit its Facebook page.

Members of the public will be able to watch the air display from publicly accessible land to the north of the RAF Lossiemouth perimeter fence.

Tickets for a Drive-In Air Display are limited to RAF personnel and their families.
