TWO local youth charities are gearing up to bring Cooper Park Bike Fest back for a third year.

The event, run by Lossiemouth-based outdoor education and adventure charity Outfit Moray and Elgin Youth Café, will focus on all things bikes at the Elgin park on Sunday, July 25.

The charities often work closely together, linked by their core values of providing support and delivering activities and adventures for young people in Moray, particularly those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.

Outfit Moray’s Bikeability co-ordinator, Donna Brown, said: "Our Bike Fest event is a great opportunity for people to come and have some fun on bikes.

"We will have an obstacle course for people of all ages to test their skills on, as well as electric bikes to try and some adaptive bikes for those with different cycling needs.

"We will also be running some family orientated, instructor-led, exploration rides around Cooper Park and beyond, plus people can bring their bikes down for a bike check."

Elgin Youth Café’s health ambassador, Donna Breen, added: "Our last Bike Fest was just before lockdown in 2020 and we know it inspired people to take up cycling during difficult times.

"We are looking forward to another day of fun and excitement and will have our smoothie bikes working hard to create delicious healthy smoothies as an extra treat."

The festival will run from 11am to 2pm, with the exploration rides leaving Cooper Park at 10.30am, noon and 12.30pm. Anyone wishing to join one of the instructor-led rides is encouraged to book through Outfit Moray’s website at events.outfitmoray.com.
