Children sent home and enquiries ongoing after fire at Elgin High School

ENQUIRIES are ongoing after a fire broke out at Elgin High School earlier this afternoon.

Children were sent home after the fire, which began in a bathroom, but nobody has been injured.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene before 1pm. A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.44pm to reports of a fire within first floor toilets at Elgin High School.

“Operations control immediately mobilised two fire engines to the location and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We received a report of a fire at Elgin High School at around 1.30pm.

“There were no reports of any injuries and enquiries are at an early stage.”
