Buckie Harbour clam landings rise sharply

JUST under 300 boxes of fish were landed at Buckie Harbour last week.

A total of 274 boxes, along with 272 bags of clams, were brought ashore by 14 vessels.

The boats were: Lily Oak VI; Moray Lass; Endeavour; Brantia; Boy Sam; Lily; Our May; Emerald Dawn; Skua; Camann II; Lee Rose II; Chloe Ella; Moray Endeavour; Orcadis.

While fish landings are down on the previous week, when 413 boxes were taken to the quayside, there was a sharp increase in bags of clams from 42.

A single cargo vessel, the MV Nautica (Latvia), called last week importing 1807.24 tonnes of malt from Mistley on August 2 before sailing light to Aberdeen the following day.
