CLAN Lossiemouth celebrated its fifth anniversary last week – just before all its drop-in centres were closed to protect clients amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The charity has held drop-in sessions every Thursday at the Moray Coast Medical Practice for people affected by cancer since March 2015.

Clients, staff and volunteers gathered to mark the milestone on Thursday, March 12. A CLAN therapist offered free hand massages as a demonstration of some of the comforts and services it provides.

Tracy Sellar, CLAN Cancer Support area manager, said: "Over 30 people attended including clients and clinicians from the medical practice who took away information and are always proactive in referring clients to CLAN.

"Our volunteer, Maggie Sabiston, a retired GP, has ran the services in Lossiemouth for the past five years with support from staff and other volunteers.

"It was a wonderful day with homebakes and refreshments."

The Aberdeen-based cancer support charity announced a temporary closure for its drop-in centres on Friday, March 13, to take effect from this week.

In Moray CLAN has drop-in centres at Elgin, Forres, Buckie and Lossiemouth while in Aberdeenshire it operates centres in Banchory and Inverurie.

CLAN Haven in Aberdeen, for those attending Aberdeen Royal Infirmary appointments, will remain open.
