Life just got wilder for a North East character who features with Ben Fogle in the TV presenter's new series Lives in the Wild.

Jake Williams, who lives deep in Clashindarroch Forest near Rhynie, has experienced record depths of snowfall over the past ten days.

Close to 2ft of snow has fallen and formed into even deeper drifts around his property.

In the programme, which viewers can watch on Channel 5, Fogle is seen helping Jake fill his log store which is now be almost inaccessible.

His ancient Land Rover is almost totally buried in snow as well.

Jake, who's a keen musician, has no land line and to secure a 4G signal on his mobile he must trek to his road end.

However, as Fogle's programme discovered, Jake doesn't fit the usual criteria of a hermit as he actually quite enjoys the company of others.

Jake also featured in Frankie Boyle's Tour of Scotland which was broadcast last year.

During the programme the comedian was seen having a cuppa with Jake, as they sat together up in his tree house.
