Football outwith Moray: Colin Hendry's lucky pants guarantee victory for Scotland on Friday

Colin Hendry is going above and beyond to support Scotland's football team in their Friday showdown with the Auld Enemy.

The Keith stalwart played a vital role on the pitch when Scotland last beat England at Wembley in 1999.

Now he's channelled that experience to ‘bless’ hundreds of pairs of underpants.

Colin said: "Lots of us have pre-game rituals.

"For some that means donning lucky underpants.

"Hopefully we can channel some of the success my team enjoyed in 1999 with these lucky orange-and-blue pants for the Tartan Army at Wembley on Friday.

"I’ll be out in London pinging lucky undies to Scottish fans to chuck on under their kilts and bring in some luck for our boys."

Colin started his footballing career in Moray, turning out for both Keith and Islavale as a teenager.

He went on to rack up over 50 appearances for Scotland despite only making his international debut at 27.

Colin was also captain of the last Scotland men’s team to appear at a major tournament – the 1998 World Cup.

As well as commissioning hundreds of pairs of pants, Irn-Bru has also launched a full range of new cans to tie in with the Euros.

These feature phrases of the moment such as ‘yes sir’ and ‘boogie’.
