She said: "It is absolutely wonderful to see such a community come together and the sun is out, so it is great.

"Lossie has never ever been so busy as it has this week."

That saw the opening of a new £1.8 million pedestrian bridge to the East Beach, the first time in nearly three years that people have had access to the beach.

"I have been in Lossie for over 20 years and I have never seen it as busy as this," added Mrs Halkett.

"I just hope people remember we now have a pristine beach and remember to take their rubbish home. We need to look after it."

There were songs from the school choirs at Hythehill and St Gerardine Primary schools, Lossiemouth High Pipe Band, Moray Concert Brass and community dancing with Moray Dance.

"Could you ask for anything better, great music, sunshine, good friends and great company."

Mrs Halkett said it was a fitting celebration of the Queen's 70 years on the throne and she paid tribute to Her Majesty.

"To see somebody of that age still enjoying life and communicating with the people is fantastic.

"This event is about getting people together and recognising that Lossie has so much to offer."

Gina McNicoll of Lossiemouth Community Council, said: "It's absolutely wonderful, our whole aim was to have a family gathering.

"It's a smashing area this (Station Park) and we need to use it more.

"The children were so excited to be singing here today.

"Everyone is so friendly."
