Buckie man asked relative to stab him
A Buckie man invited his niece and her boyfriend to meet him at a bus station and stab him with a knife he had.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the woman was so alarmed she contacted police who arrested 59-year-old Latvian Karlis Mazulis of the Cluny Hotel, High Street in Buckie on the night of October 28 last year.
Sheriff Sara Matheson was told that Mazulis met his relative on a bus journey from Buckie to Elgin but she did not want to engage with him because he was intoxicated.
Mazulis contacted her later that evening and the court heard he invited the pair to come to Elgin Bus Station, punch him and stab him with a knife he had in his possession.
He admitted possessing the knife.
His defence solicitor, David Patterson told Sheriff Matheson: "It was an oversight that he had it."
Mazulis was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to a fine.
