Shona Morrison will be 'dedicated and committed' leader of Cosla, say SNP colleagues

SNP representatives in Moray have said that councillor Shona Morrison will be "dedicated and committed" in her new role as president of Cosla.
Cllr Morrison (SNP, Fochabers-Lhanbryde) became the first SNP councillor to lead the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, which represents all 32 councils across the country.

Moray Labour were quick to wish Cllr Morrison all the best, with her SNP colleagues doing the same.
Moray's SNP MSP Richard Lochhead said: “I’m delighted that Shona has been elected to the role of Cosla president.
"She’s made history by being the first ever SNP councillor to hold the position.
“Shona is an excellent councillor with an abundance of talent and I know she’ll be a dedicated and committed leader of Cosla.
“Knowing Shona’s passion for local government, I fully expect her to be a strong voice and advocate for Scotland’s local authorities.
"It's great to have someone from Moray is this important role.”
Co-leader of the SNP Council Group in Moray, Graham Leadbitter, added: “Shona has already demonstrated her clear leadership abilities over the last four years as Moray’s first female council convener.
"Now she takes those skills onto the national political stage as Cosla President.
“I'm very proud to see a dedicated and hard-working councillor have their talent recognised, which also puts Moray centre stage.”
