Around 370 of Keith's over-80s were given their first dose of the Pfizer/BionTech innoculation.

Organised by Keith Health Centre, with support from NHS Grampian's immunisation team, the day was part of the nationwide rollout of the vaccine to the most at risk people.

What an 81st birthday it was for Dennis Innes, from Newmill, who was looking forward to a special birthday dinner later in the evening with partner Kay Grant, delivered by the Royal Hotel.

He received his jab from final year Aberdeen University medical student Tiffany Martin, who said: "It is really exciting. I am pleased to be here and seeing everybody getting their vaccine."

Lynn Ross, practice manager, said the session went well, adding: "The staff are delighted to be able to do something in the midst of another lockdown.

Rona Riddoch (81), said: "I used to have a lot of friends round and of course they can't come in just now. I get the dial-a-bus to go the shops once a week.

"It is a relief (to get the vaccine) and better than taking that virus."
