Elgin City set for 4500 sell-out against Aberdeen at Borough Briggs

It’s the third meeting of the sides in Scotland’s national cup - and the first in more than half a century.

Aberdeen won both of the previous two meetings - in 1938 and 1971.

However, with Jimmy Thelin’s side winless in 12 - there are hopes it could be third time lucky for the Black and Whites.

City manager Allan Hale believes that - if the Dons have an off day and his players all put in 10/10 performances - there is a chance of a shock.

Chairman Alan Murray described the match as a “landmark” occasion highlighting how far City have come since last season’s humiliating 6-0 cup exit at the hands of non-league side Jeanfield Swifts.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin simply said Aberdeen “have to win” and end their horror streak - which has followed an incredibly impressive start to the campaign.
