THERE have been 16 further deaths of people from Covid-19 in Scotland in the last 24 hours.

That takes the total number of deaths of people with a positive test for the virus to 2261 since the pandemic began.

A total of 99,932 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs to date.

Of these tests, 84,891 were negative and there have been 15,041 positive tests.

This will be an underestimate of the number of cases. Not everyone with the virus will display symptoms and not all those with symptoms will be tested.

Of the patients who have tested positive, 3540 inpatients have been discharged from hospital since March 5.

As of last night, 841 patients were in hospital with Covid-19, 36 of whom were in intensive care, with another 14 with suspected Covid-19 in intensive care.
