THREE goals in five minutes helped Queen's Park see off Elgin City at Hampden on Saturday.

Ross County loanee Ross MacIver got City off to the perfect start as he opened the scoring after just 10 minutes (see Elgin City TV highlights below).

However, the lead was short lived as Queen's Park midfielder Kurtis Roberts pounced on a loose ball from a corner to get his side back level just two minutes later.

David Galt fired the hosts in front after 65 minutes as he drilled a low effort past Elgin goalkeeper Kyle Gourlay.

Galt got his second just a few minutes later as Calvin McGrory found him in space in the box.

The Queen's Park midfielder got his hat-trick on the 70th minute after a short back pass from Greg Morrison was picked up by Kieran Moore. Keeper Gourlay came out and got a touch pushing the ball out wide but it was won by Galt who chipped over Gourlay into an empty net.

The result leaves Gavin Price's side sitting fifth in the table, 11 points behind fourth placed Annan who beat title contenders Edinburgh City on Saturday.

Elgin have the chance to close the gap on the Galabank side with a midweek trip to face Clyde at Broadwood tomorrow night.
