Moray Council has confirmed the emergency closure of the U14E Ordiequish Road at Delfur Bridge until Sunday, September 15.

Due to the further undermining of the foundations of Delfur Bridge, near the junction of B9103 Boat O'Brig, the decision to close the road has been taken.

The diversion for this closure is: U14E > B9103 Boat o’ Brig-Mulben Road > B9015 Rothes - Mosstodloch road > A96 Mosstodloch - Fochabers section >> U14E.

Around 16 homes are expected to be left with no access to roads after this closure.

A Moray Council statement on Friday, before the bridge was checked, said: "After intense rainfall we inspect our bridges, and the Delfur Bridge has shown significant erosion since its last inspection in September 2018. A number of masonry blocks have dislodged on the abutment – the structure on which the bridge sits.

"We have put down sandbags to add a layer of protection and reduce further deterioration."
