DJ Sammy returning to MacMoray for summer festival, joined by MacTa and Torridon
DJ Sammy - one of the highlights of this year’s MacMoray Easter Festival - is set to return for next month’s Summer Special.
The Spanish DJ headlined the Saturday night at MacMoray in May, having originally been due to play at 6pm before a delayed flight.
That delayed flight turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Drew Dixon stepped into the 6pm slot and DJ Sammy was an ideal finishing act.
Such was his popularity, DJ Sammy will return for next month’s event - at the request of MacMoray attendees on social media. He’ll play on Sunday, August 11.
Organiser Andy Macdonald - who announced this week that MacMoray will end after 2025’s Easter edition - said: “I just had to get DJ Sammy back for the summer.
“He was overwhelmingly the highlight of MacMoray Easter.
“The people spoke and we listened. DJ Sammy asked to perform at the summer event after having such an amazing time at the Easter festival.
“I love that the people’s highlight was DJ Sammy, and that he also said it was one of the best festivals he has ever performed at and he wants to come back.
“I’m absolutely buzzing for it. This is setting up to be the biggest and best MacMoray ever.”
In addition to DJ Sammy, popular Scottish bands Torridon and MacTa have been announced for the festival.
Moray-based MacTa will play on Saturday, August 10, while Torridon will join DJ Sammy on the Sunday.
The MacMoray Summer Special festival, running across August 10 and 11, is set to be the penultimate running of the event.
Cooper Park has hosted MacMoray since 2022, but next Easter’s festival will be the final hurrah for organiser Andy MacDonald, who is set to take time away with his family.
