Conservative MP William Wragg accused the UK Government of intimidating and attempting to blackmail MPs who have called for the Prime Minister to step down recently.

He also alleged that suspected plotters against the PM have been threatened with cuts to constituency funding.

However, Mr Ross says he hasn't been intimidated by the government and that any future investment in Moray isn't under threat.

He said: "I've rebelled against the government on a number of occasions and at no point was investment in Moray ever threatened as a result.

"Indeed, towards the end of Theresa May's Premiership I voted against the government but still worked with Ministers and officials on the Moray Growth Deal, securing funding that meant it was the highest funded growth deal per head of population anywhere in the country.

"These allegations are serious and must be fully investigated, but I don't recognise them in any way from my time as a whip or as an MP who hasn't always supported the government."

In response to Mr Wragg's accusations, No 10 said: "We are not aware of any evidence to support what are clearly serious allegations.

"If there is any evidence to support these claims we would look at it carefully."
