Lossiemouth fire - dramatic pictures show blaze near River Lossie and East Beach





Dramatic pictures have shown the scale of a fire at a popular dog-walking route in Moray.

Three appliances were sent to a blaze not far from the East Beach in Lossiemouth, which started at 6.22pm on Thursday evening.

A section of forest - near Lossiemouth Bay Caravan Park - was alight and crews remain on the scene today.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.22pm on Thursday, October 9, to reports of a fire in the open affecting gorse along the River Lossie, Lossiemouth.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene.

"The fire front is approximately 100 metres by 20 metres and crews are currently working to make the area safe.

"No casualties have been reported."

Police Scotland confirmed that they are “not involved” with the incident.
