A 46-year-old man was airlifted to hospital yesterday after a crash on the outskirts of Cullen.

The accident, which involved only one vehicle, led to the A98 being closed for about six hours.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a crash near the Cullen Bay Hotel at around 4.35pm on Sunday.

"Emergency services attended and the 46-year-old male driver was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"The road was re-opened around 10.30pm and enquiries into the crash are ongoing."
