Driver injured as bus comes off A96

A BUS driver was airlifted to hospital after a crash closed the A96 last night.

The RS Coaches bus came off the road between Huntly and Cairnie about 7.50pm, landing on its side.

No passengers were aboard the bus at the time.

The 60-year-old injured driver was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after firefighters cut him free from the wreckage. The extent of the driver's injuries are not known.

Emergency services closed the road in both directions late into the night.

Sauchen-based RS Coaches sought the help of a local farmer, who assisted in clearing the road.
