A negative breath test result left police officers surprised – until they found £300 of class-A drugs inside a driver's car.

Martin Glendinning was said to have glazed eyes and slurred speech when the officers pulled him over.

The police had received a report of erratic driving at about 6pm on April 18, 2020, on Edgar Road in Elgin.

The witness stated that a car had pulled out at speed from the Screwfix store.

A search of Glendinning's vehicle revealed 11.2g of diamorphine in a bag.

The 45-year-old, whose address was given in court papers as Station Road, Kinloss, pleaded guilty to one charge of possession.

In addition, he also admitted another charge of driving a vehicle while incapable.

Sheriff Robert McDonald banned Glendinning from the roads for a year.

He also placed him under a 7pm-7am home curfew for 72 days.
