The court was told that, on August 28, Main had driven off from an address in Lossiemouth in a car which belonged to someone he knew.

Later that day, at Orchard Road in Forres, the 38-year-old then collided with a Vauxhall Zafira and a KIA Stonic.

Procurator Fiscal Sharon Ralph said: “The accused got out of his vehicle. Witnesses drew the conclusion that he was under the influence of alcohol.”

The court heard that the twin collisions were captured on CCTV.

An arrest was made at 4.20pm that same day at Roseisle.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood asked social workers to prepare a report on Main’s background and adjourned passing sentence until October 24.

In the meantime a driving ban was imposed on the defendant whose address was given in court papers as St Margaret’s Crescent, Lossiemouth.
