A NON-UNIFORM day held at East End Primary School has raised money, as well as awareness, for Children in Need.

Pupils were encouraged to pay a pound and turn up wearing what they please. The proceeds were given to charity, and the total raised was £187.

Children were also given a visit by Pudsey Bear in the afternoon, and told him about their morning activities.

Head teacher Gail Mackintosh said: "The kids were ecstatic. They couldn't believe Pudsey had made a special visit to their school.

"They hear and see a lot about Children in Need. For them, it's about realising how they can help other people in need to improve their lives."

In the morning, children made collages of Pudsey, decorated Pudsey biscuits and enjoyed a Pudsey-themed beetle drive.

East End Primary School thanked Asda for their help with organising Pudsey's visit.
