Elgin fire on Alba Place results in 71-year-old woman being taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital





An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after a flat fire in Elgin.

Four fire vehicles, three ambulances and a paramedic response unit were called to the blaze on the town’s Alba Place after it began at around 11pm on Monday.

Police also attended and confirmed that a 71-year-old woman was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing and a joint investigation will take place with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service,” a police spokesperson added.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.18pm on Monday, March 17, to reports of a fire within a residential property on Alba Place, Elgin.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene of a fire in a ground-floor flat of a two-storey building.

“Crews extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"One casualty was taken to Elgin's Dr Gray’s Hospital by Scottish Ambulance Service personnel."

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they sent three ambulances a paramedic response unit to the scene to transport the woman to hospital.
