IT WAS an emotional moment for Elgin breeder Lynne Bowley when her playful pooch was named Best in Breed at this year's Crufts.

Lexus, a 2-year-old, beat off 55 other contenders to take the prize in the Bracco Italiano category.

Lynne, who has been attending the world's greatest dog show since 1988, said: "I feel really emotional right now.

"I was here last year with my Bracco Italiano bitch Eva, winner of Best in Breed for a record-holding eight times.

"Tragically, she died only ten days after the show.

"To win the title again with Lexus this year is unbelievable. I never thought I would do it again and I’m totally amazed."

Lynne describes Lexus as a bit of a clown and an entertainer when he is at home. In the ring, he behaved beautifully and looked to be really enjoying himself.

This year's Crufts, which run from March 5-8 at the NEC in Birmingham, saw more than 21,000 dogs competing across a range of competitions.

This year, the Best in Show crown was awarded to Maisie, a Wire-haired Dachshund, from Gloucestershire.
